Top Bar Icons

The blue bar at the top of the map has 6 buttons. Here's what each one does:

Directions Get turn-by-turn route guidance from one point to another across the island.

Legend Shows a legend explaining what each colored marker and icon on the map means.

Refresh Manually reload the latest traffic reports. The map also auto-refreshes every 30 seconds.

Center Map Re-centers the map back to St. Maarten / St. Martin if you've scrolled away.

Viewing the Map

When you open the app, you'll see a live map of St. Maarten / St. Martin with traffic reports and known hotspots.

  1. Pan & zoom โ€” Drag to move the map. Pinch (on phone) or use the +/- buttons to zoom in and out.
  2. Tap a marker โ€” Colored markers show active traffic reports. Tap any one to see what's happening at that location.
  3. Glowing markers โ€” Pulsing circles with emoji icons are known hotspots (see below). Tap them for details and peak times.
๐Ÿ’ก Tip: The map stays locked to the island so you won't accidentally scroll away to the open ocean!

Report a Traffic Condition

See something on the road? Help the community by reporting it in seconds.

  1. Tap the red Report button (bottom-right corner of the map).
  2. Choose a report type from the 8 options below.
  3. Select a severity level โ€” Low, Medium, or High.
  4. Tap the map where the issue is happening to set the location.
  5. Optionally add a description with extra details.
  6. Hit Submit Report โ€” your report goes live instantly!

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Reports automatically expire after a few hours, so the map always shows what's happening right now.

Filter by Type

Use the colored chips at the top of the screen to filter the map and see only the report types you care about.

  1. Scroll the chip bar horizontally below the top header.
  2. Tap a chip like ๐Ÿš— Jam or ๐Ÿ‘ฎ Police to show only that type.
  3. Tap All to reset and see every report again.
  4. The number on each chip shows how many active reports exist for that type.

Get Directions

Need to get somewhere? Use the built-in directions feature for turn-by-turn routing across the island.

  1. Tap the directions icon (arrow button) in the top-right corner.
  2. Tap the map to set your starting point (green marker).
  3. Tap again to set your destination (red marker).
  4. The app draws a blue route on the map with distance and estimated time.
  5. Scroll the directions panel to see turn-by-turn instructions.
  6. Tap Clear to remove the route when done.

GPS Speed Tracker

See your real-time speed while driving โ€” works best on your phone with GPS enabled.

  1. Tap the GPS crosshair button on the left side of the map.
  2. Allow location access when your phone asks for permission.
  3. Your current speed appears in a blue badge at the bottom-left.
  4. Tap the speed badge to switch between km/h and mph.
  5. Tap the GPS button again to stop tracking.
๐Ÿ’ก Tip: The speed tracker uses your phone's GPS โ€” it works best outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Give it a few seconds to lock on.

Change Map Style

Switch between three map views to find the one that works best for you.

  1. Find the map style button on the left side (shows current style name).
  2. Tap it to cycle through the three available styles.

Known Hotspots

Glowing markers on the map show well-known traffic trouble spots around the island. These are permanent and always visible.

Gas Prices

  1. Show stations โ€” Tap the green โ›ฝ Gas Prices button on the left side of the map to toggle gas station markers on/off.
  2. Check prices โ€” Tap any gas station marker to see the latest reported fuel prices (Regular, Midgrade, Premium, Diesel).
  3. Update a price โ€” Inside the station popup, tap Update Price, select the fuel type, enter the current price, and submit.
  4. Community powered โ€” Prices are reported by users like you. They expire after 48 hours if nobody refreshes them, so update when you fill up!
๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Help your neighbors save money โ€” update gas prices whenever you visit a station!

Quick Tips

  1. Fresh data โ€” The map refreshes automatically every 30 seconds, so you're always seeing the latest reports.
  2. Upvote reports โ€” Tap a report marker and hit the upvote button to confirm it's still accurate. This helps the community!
  3. Use on your phone โ€” SXM Traffic works great in your mobile browser. Add it to your home screen for quick access.
  4. Drive safe โ€” Please don't report while driving! Pull over or have a passenger submit the report.
